Aug 8, 2019, Tashkent (Uzbekistan) has welcomed the President of the World Taekwondo Federation Chungwon Chou with a spectacular flashmob ‘Taekwondo For All’ at the square of ‘Fraternity of Peoples’. The event was organized and supported by Taekwondo fans, Uzbekistan National Olympic Committee, Uzbekistan Minister of Culture and Sports, and patronized by the President of Uzbekistan Taekwondo Association Sherzod Tashmator.
The flashmob was a part of Tashkent 2019 World Taekwondo Cadet Championships and was an important event that represented a key principle of the Federation – taekwondo has no restrictions, it is inclusive and accessible.
Thousands of people took part in the flashmob one way or another, despite their age, gender, nationality or disabilities.
World Taekwondo has grown into a sport that cares. This has resulted in a separate project called WT Cares, which helps thousands of street children in Sri Lanka, Nepal and soon Cambodia.
World Taekwondo President Chungwon Choue commended the support of the local government and social organizations and expressed his gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev:
My special thanks go to President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Without his enormous support, taekwondo wouldn’t be as popular as it is now. I believe all students here will be a part of the future for taekwondo in Uzbekistan.
The events like this bring people together and promote the art of taekwondo, its importance in people’s life.
